Beauty of Nature in Nigeria (BONN) is a long term initiative of BPC Nigeria aimed at celebrating the Beauty of Nature across Nigeria through a 'Nature Fair'. BONN intends to showcase the unique natural endowments of each state of the federation starting from 2017. This 37 years vision with focus on the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja), is expected to run yearly in no preferential sequence with a view to drawing Local, National and Global attention to the rich endowments of nature, cultures and people of Nigeria thereby diversifying the Nigerian economy through environmental management, biodiversity conservation, eco-tourism, employment creation and awareness of opportunities for sustainable development.

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, BPC, Nigeria and its partners worldwide cordially invites all nature lovers to join hands with us as we celebrate the Beauty of Nature across Nigeria.

Akwa Ibom State remains one of the richest states of Nigeria in terms of biological diversity and contains one of the most threatened and rainforest environment/ ecosystem in Nigeria. The state is recognised as the centre of endemism in floral and faunal resources. Based on the foregoing, world leading conservation organizations, the International Union for Conversation of Nature (IUCN) and Conservation International (CI), proclaimed the area as a biodiversity hotspot for the world which must be protected and promoted for posterity.

Objectives



1.To identify, document and showcase the unique biological diversity in Nigeria.

2. To sensitize and promote in-situ conservation across the landscapes of Nigeria.

3. To publish and place at the disposal of all relevant groups and government information and perspectives that would assist in the formulation of policies for promoting and conserving Nigeria biodiversity and environment.

4. To analyze patterns of human behaviours, social relations and cultural preferences as these affects the Nigerian biodiversity, environment and tourism.

5. To showcase investment opportunities in nature and environment.

6. To enhance recreation/entertainment opportunities offered by Nature in Nigeria.

7. To enhance positive change towards re-branding Nigeria by focusing on sustainable environment, nature and livelihood enhancement.

BPC NIGERIA in collaboration with Institute for Development Ecology Conservation and Cooperation (IDECC) hereby invites you and your Organization or Group to participate and exhibit the beauty of Nature in Nigeria as regards natural resources with potentials for tourism/eco-tourism - streams, rivers, landscapes, forests, flowers, wildlife, valleys, hills, beaches, etc. your products or services during our forth coming "Nature Fair" tagged, ‘’Beauty of Nature in Nigeria (BONN)”- Akwa Ibom 2017 holding at the Sheer Grace Arena, Two Lanes, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

This first edition (2017) starts with Akwa Ibom State and promises to be a first of its kind in Nigeria. Thus, people, governments and other organizations are hereby give this grand opportunity to exhibit Nature, in all its finest glory together with wildlife species, forest based products, Art works, local crafts, cuisines and cultural shows.

BPC, Nigeria invites students to participate in the Nature Fair which will be featuring an Art Competition on the representation of the "Sclater's monkey (Guenon)", organized for Secondary School student in Akwa Ibom State. As regards the participation in the art competition, interested students as are expected to make their art work using any form of visual expression to represent the Sclater's monkey in a landscape peculiar to Akwa Ibom state.

Guidelines
Contestants can use of painting, drawing, sculptures or installation.
In case of sculptures, only relief sculpture shall be accepted.
Clay, wood and paper marche can be used for sculptural expressions.
All work should not be more than full imperial size.
The size should not be more than 18" x 24".
Proper presentation, mounting and framing gives additional advantage.
All work should be submitted on or before 30th May, 2017.
